Kulpan Premier League

The Kulpan Premier League (umja lIga cUlbanot), currently known as Líga Fondin for sponsorship reasons, is the top level of association football in Kulpania. Formed in 1992, the Premier League is contested by 14 teams and operates on a promotion and relegation system with the First Division. The reigning champions are FC 1923 Lowtah, who won their first title for 16 years in the 2019-20 season.

History

The league was formed in 1992 and has for most of its history been dominated by clubs from Dalow, with long-time rivals Sporting Paro and Locomotivo Dencraten having won 15 titles between them. Locomotivo are the only team to have won the title three times in a row, having claimed the title in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

In 2002, FC 1923 Lowtah became the first club from outside the capital city to win the championship, defeating reigning champions Sporting Paro in the last game of the season to clinch the title, and subsequently Red Star Oloton have emerged as a KPL force, winning the league four times. Unity Artun became the first team to become champions one year after being promoted into the KPL when they won the title in 2017.

FC Limibas are the only Premier League champions to have subsequently been relegated to the First Division. Limibas won the Premier League in 1994 but were relegated three years later after experiencing financial difficulties and have never returned to the top division.

The following 14 clubs form the Premier League during the 2020-21 season. Six clubs have played in the KPL in every season since its inception.
